Get Involved!

Built into the foundation of Pike Place Market are values of support and care for our community. In addition to the 500+ small businesses, our historic district plays host to a number of social services including a food bank, preschool and child care center, health clinic, assisted-living facility, and senior center.

If you’re looking for ways to give back with your time in service to others, the Pike Market Senior Center has a number of opportunities available! Bring your talents and join a passionate community of volunteers who serve on the Activity Program Team.

Hear from Staff

Zoë Freeman, Programming & Member Services Manager

Zoë has worked at the Senior Center for over 33 years, overseeing a small team of compassionate and dedicated staff who help ensure all 400+ active members (with dozens more joining monthly) are comfortable and their needs are met on a day-to-day basis.

“We’re looking for good souls with specific talents and abilities who are willing to share that with people,” Zoë said. “Our volunteers are our bridge to and from the community. We provide a sense of place, a sense of history, and they leave with our story.”

Her mission is to see to it that everyone who walks in their doors to become a member feels a part of the community, no matter where they’re at in life.

Beyond sharing your time to teach or support, this volunteer opportunity is one at the forefront of building fellowship. Following the pandemic, the desire is stronger than ever for folks to gather and connect.

Our Senior Center is at the heart of our community’s efforts to welcome in both our senior Market residents and those around downtown who are seeking accessible resources.

Sharing your passion for a hobby, career-related skills, or just general organizational talent are all valuable additions to contribute toward the revitalization of their social activity programs. If this piques your interest, keep reading to learn how to apply!
