COVID-19 Rules

Vaccine Verification Requirement

Effective October 25, new regulations will apply to businesses in King County customers of restaurants and eateries with indoor seating and indoor theaters, event spaces, etc will be required to provide proof of vaccination status or a negative COVID test. This ruling sets common standards for all businesses and locations in King County.

Requirements:

  • Businesses will be required to screen customers for inside seating for proof of vaccination status. The alternative is proof of a recent negative COVID test.
  • Restaurant customers without proof will have to take out orders or be seated outside.
  • Facemask requirements will also be emphasized in all indoor spaces when not eating or drinking.

At the Market

  • The PDA will provide additional outdoor dining areas on the MarketFront Pavilion, however, the new guidelines are likely to limit the amount of table seating in building common areas.

To help understand this new order, the Seattle Metro Chamber has provided new resources to help businesses prepare for King County’s vaccine verification requirement. Please take a look at the resources below:

King County Vaccine Verification Toolkit for Businesses – Download Here

This toolkit is designed to help members and partners implement the new policy in daily operations.

This toolkit was drafted in partnership with King County and includes:

  1. Key details about the order
  2. Accepted proofs of vaccination and testing
  3. Signage
  4. Scenarios and training resources

King County Mask Requirement

Effective September 7, King County is requiring everyone to wear a mask at outdoor events of 500+ people or at any outdoor setting where people cannot remain at least 6 feet apart from non-household members, regardless of vaccination status. This order joins the statewide indoor mask mandate that has been in place since August 23.

As we face a surge in delta cases and serious impacts on our health care system, the Market has issued the below Mask Requirements for all vaccinated and unvaccinated people, 5 years of age and older across the Market property.

Masks ARE required at Pike Place Market Including the following locations:

  • Inside All Market Buildings, including all common areas, PDA Offices and PDA Operations Shops
  • Inside the Arcade Hallways, including the Main arcade, Economy arcade, and the MarketFront Pavilion
  • Inside All Market Elevators
  • Inside All Residential Buildings
  • In all crowded outdoor settings where people cannot remain at least 6 feet apart from non-household members

Saturday Attendance Requirement

Vendors must sell one weekday, Monday-Thursday, in order to sell the following Saturday. Please note the difference from the pre-COVID Saturday attendance requirement: only one weekday is required, but Friday doesn’t count. Vendors not meeting this requirement will not be assigned tables for the Saturday that week. Since you are now able to sign up for days online in advance, if you do not meet the weekly Saturday requirement please take the time to cancel any upcoming Saturday reservations. Failure to do this will complicate the process and slow down a busy roll call.

Check-in Times:
Must establish visible table presence or have contacted the staff via the Marketmaster cell with a (rare) late call: Farmers by 8:00 am and Craftspeople by 9:00 am. Craftspeople wishing to move into vacancies resulting from cancellations will meet the Marketmaster at 8:45 am in the front of Desimone Bridge.

Table cancellations:
Vendors should strive to cancel tables infrequently to minimize inconvenience to staff and other vendors. Cancellations should be made by calling the Marketmaster cell (206.618.7117) as early as possible, and Farmers and Craftspeople should call to cancel no later than 8:30 am on the day reserved for selling. Craftspeople canceling a table reservation in advance should cancel themselves via online signup when cancelling before noon the day before selling. All cancellations after the noon-the-day-before reservation deadline should be made by calling the Marketmaster cell. If cancellations are not done correctly, Craftspeople may be assigned a table and charged daily rent, regardless of if they show up. Vendors should leave a brief message if the Marketmaster doesn’t pick up the phone. Please repeat the message once to ensure it is transmitted clearly.

Table Map:
Starting Saturday, May 1st, every day of the week we will be assigning tables according to the “Expanded Map”, which gives famers and crafters 8’ tables. This is in order to prevent vendors from being turned away without a table on higher demand days, and more Daystall businesses reopen in advance of the traditional peak season. This means that vendors will have to be extra vigilant at maintaining safe social distancing both behind your tables with your neighbors and in front of your tables with your customers.
