Pike Box CSA
Community Supported Agriculture ProgramWhat is the Pike Box CSA Program?
The Pike Place Market Preservation and Development Authority created the Pike Box CSA program in 2013 with the goals of helping local farmers grow their businesses, connecting Seattle workers and residents to local food sources, and providing fresh produce to anyone who needs it.
The Pike Box CSA program is a farm-to-customer program run by the Pike Place Market Farm Team. Market staff source fresh produce, eggs, honey, flowers, and more from farmers across Washington. Then pack it all up for weekly pick-ups at Pike Place Market.
What is a Community Supported Agriculture program?
Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) is a partnership between farmers and members guaranteeing sales during uncertain times. Pike Box CSA members have the opportunity to support farmers by signing up for a season’s worth of fresh produce. This helps farmers, especially small family farmers, plan their crops for the year.
How does my Pike Box membership support Washington Farmers?
Your Pike Box membership helps support the development of farmers by opening them up to additional sales channels, connecting them with new customers, and allowing them to experiment with new crops and varieties. (Some of which will end up in members’ boxes and kitchens.)
