Congratulations Don & Joe’s Meats!
Don & Joe’s Meats is the last remaining butcher shop in Pike Place Market, and the shop and its location underneath the Public Market Center clock & sign has a history dating almost to the start of the Market.
The butcher shop in Pike Place Market first opened at its present-day location in 1924 under the name Dan’s Better Meats.
Don Kuzaro took over the neighborhood butcher in 1969, changing the name to Don & Joe’s Meats and quickly making the butcher shop a true family business by hiring his wife to manage the books and his son Don Jr., who worked his way up from “clean-up kid” to meat cutter while attending college.
After serving in the Navy from 1972 to 1976, Don Jr. returned to Pike Place Market and eventually took over the business in 1986.
Whether you’re planning a delicious meal or need a quick snack on the go, Don & Joe’s Meats has got you covered with a selection that never disappoints.
Today, the butcher shop sells to countless regulars visiting Pike Place Market each week and six restaurants in the historic district, including Le Pichet, Matt’s in the Market, Place Pigalle, Radiator Whiskey, The Pink Door, and Cafe Campagne.
Find Don & Joe’s Meats on the south end of Pike Place Market to the left of Pike Place Fish.
Congratulations on your continued success and on offering some of the freshest meats in Seattle, always with a smile.
