What to know about Memorial Day Weekend 2026 in the Soul of Seattle
Memorial Day Weekend marks the unofficial start of summer, and there’s no better place to celebrate than Pike Place Market. From vibrant shopping opportunities and fresh seasonal flavors to live entertainment and waterfront views, the Market comes alive in all the best ways.
A More Open, Walkable Market Experience
Memorial Day Weekend also marks the official launch of Pike Place Market’s 2026 street management plan, designed to create a safer, more pedestrian-friendly experience during peak visitor season. Here’s what to expect on Pike Place (the street that runs through the Market):
- Friday through Sunday (May 22–24): Full street closure
- Monday (Memorial Day, May 25): Soft closure with staff-managed access at 1st Ave & Pike St, allowing deliveries, ADA access, and emergency vehicles
Learn more about the street management plan here.
Planning to drive? The Market’s parking garage offers 800+ spaces with entrances on Western Ave and Alaskan Way, making it easy to park and explore on foot.
Public Seating Is Back
Starting Memorial Day Weekend, the Market’s seasonal outdoor public seating and dining areas are returning to the street! Grab a bite at one of our delicious eateries and find a seat at the picnic tables located in front of the main Clock & Sign entrance and at several other locations along Pike Place.
Sip & Savor: Coming Soon in June
There’s growing excitement around a potential Sip & Savor outdoor alcohol service pilot program, which would allow adults 21+ to enjoy alcoholic beverages throughout designated Market spaces.
While the program is still pending and won’t launch Memorial Day weekend, it’s something to keep an eye out for in early June. Stay tuned to Pike Place Market’s social channels for updates.

Fresh Flavors of the Season

Summer has officially arrived at the Market, marked by the first Pike Box CSA pickup of the season. Subscribers recently picked up their first box of fresh, locally grown produce directly from Pike Place Market farmers.
This customer-supported agriculture program offers one of the most impactful ways to support local farmers, many of whom are still recovering from the devastating flooding of December 2025.
