Take the Visitor Experience survey to share your feedback on traveling to and utilizing the Market!

As Pike Place Market continues to refine street management operations on Pike Place, understanding how changes impact the people who visit, live, and work at the Market is essential. The Pike Place Market Preservation and Development Authority (PDA) has teamed up with the University of Washington’s Urban Freight Lab (UFL) to launch a visitor survey focused on how Seattleites access and utilize the Market. Find the survey linked below:
This survey is a key opportunity for locals to share feedback on ways the limited vehicle access pilot has affected how, when, and why they visit the Market. Community voices will play a critical role in shaping recommendations about the future of street management at Pike Place.
About the Survey

The Urban Freight Lab study will explore traffic camera data, comprehensive Market merchant survey data, and the local customer survey data to paint a full picture of the wide array of users’ needs vis-à -vis Pike Place. This comprehensive approach will help UFL develop data‑driven recommendations about future street operations at the Market.
The survey takes approximately 10–15 minutes to complete and all responses are anonymous.
Why This Matters
Street management at Pike Place Market is complex. It requires balancing safety, accessibility, deliveries, emergency access, and a positive experience for visitors, all while supporting merchant success. Insights gathered through this research will help guide future decisions of the PDA and partners, including the Seattle Department of Transportation (SDOT), Seattle Fire and Police Departments, the Market Historical Commission (MHC), and the Mayor’s office.
This research ensures that changes to street management operations are not only responsive to crowd volumes and safety needs, but considerate of the experiences of those who rely on the Market every day.
About the Urban Freight Lab
The Urban Freight Lab, based at the University of Washington, is a nationally recognized research group specializing in how the movement of goods occurs within urban areas. Their Seattle‑based work includes research on shopping behavior during the West Seattle Bridge closure, truck parking and loading zones, and the impacts of freight on surrounding neighborhoods.
This study of the Limited Vehicle Access Pilot is being conducted on behalf of the PDA and the Seattle Department of Transportation.
