About Us
Cyrus Saffron is the dream born from German-Iranian couple Darush Amiri and Nicole Beretha to have their own saffron ranch.
The two met in a tax cab in 2005 and after battling leukemia twice, traveling the world, and having successful careers with the Washington Department of Transportation and Amazon – the couple decided their true dream was to have their own family business. They launched Cyrus Saffron in 2014.
Darush learned how to grow saffron from his father and grandfather who both grew the spice in Iran. The dry hot climate in Chelan, Washington provides the perfect environment for saffron. Which is a spice that comes from the flowers of crocus sativus, commonly known as the “saffron crocus”. Want to know how to use it? Check out a few recommended recipes.
Cyrus Saffron has been recognized by numerous business owners and local restaurants around Puget Sound. They are also an active member of the USA Saffron Trade Association to stop importing counterfeit and poor-quality saffron.
Their saffron is organic and comes with the highest aroma and global standard with ISO 3632 USDA certified organic. Every batch gets tested for a minimum of 270 coloring agent organic saffron.
Cyrus Saffron has been selling at Pike Place Market since 2017. Find them on the farm tables in the Market’s main arcade.
