About Us
Our story began in 1976, when Gary Lasater founded what was originally called The United Metropolitan Improved Crumpet Baking & Punctual Delivery Company in Pike Place Market. Customers simply nodded, smiled, and started calling us The Crumpet Shop.
Nearly 50 years later, we’re still baking fresh crumpets daily and brewing loose leaf tea for a new generation of guests. Now lovingly run by the Golding family, the shop carries forward its legacy of warmth, quality, and tradition — one toasted crumpet and cup of tea at a time.
