Pike Place Market Welcomes Two New Businesses: Riccio's Sausage Company and Tarot Crow

Two of Pike Place Market’s newest businesses share an unexpected connection: Italy! Riccio’s Sausage Company brings generations-old Calabrian techniques to its hand‑crafted sausages, while Tarot Crow offers a diverse selection of Tarot decks — which were first created in Italy in the 1430s. Together, they offer visitors two immersive experiences, whether you’re seeking bold flavors or a fresh perspective for the year ahead.

Riccio’s Sausage Company Brings Old-World Sausage Traditions to the Market

Built on generations of family tradition, Riccio’s Sausage Company brings a taste of Calabria to Pike Place Market. Owner Stanislao “Stano” Rodolfo Riccio uses techniques passed down through his family, making Riccio’s rotating selection of locally made sausages a must‑try for Market visitors.

Stanislao emphasizes the importance of high‑quality, locally sourced ingredients—many of which are found right at the Market. These ingredients shine across a menu of sandwiches, housemade focaccia, pasta, vegetables, and other seasonal offerings. Guests can choose from hot or cold sandwiches: hot options feature a choice of sausage flavor (hot or mild Italian, or hot or mild Calabrian) paired with a variety of roasted and grilled vegetables and other toppings, while cold sandwiches highlight assorted cured meats served on fresh, house-made focaccia. The menu also includes a growing crowd favorite—lasagna. Customers can round out their meal with savory marinated vegetables or purchase them in bulk to enjoy at home. Once visitors fall in love with Riccio’s sausages in sandwich form, they can also purchase sausages to take home and use in their own recipes.

Located in the former Uli’s space, the shop has been completely refreshed, offering a warm, welcoming atmosphere and comfortable seating. Guests are greeted like family as they explore the many tempting menu options.

Stanislao spent his childhood in Seattle before moving to Calabria, Italy, where he immersed himself in the culinary traditions of his heritage. After completing culinary school, he returned to Washington to pursue his dream of becoming a chef—ultimately leading to the opening of Riccio’s Sausage Company.

Stanislao’s family previously owned Rudy’s Italian Restaurant, which opened in Pioneer Square in the mid‑1960s. A beloved destination with seating for up to 700 guests, Rudy’s is credited with leaving a lasting mark on Italian cuisine in the Pacific Northwest.

Before opening in the Market, Riccio’s sold sausages at pop‑ups and vendor events across the region. Their sausages can also be found on pizzas at Capitale Pizzeria in Capitol Hill.

Looking ahead, Riccio’s plans to launch zuppa di pesce, a hearty seafood stew, on Fish Fridays. Also on the horizon are additional cold cuts and handcrafted charcuterie boards, each prepared using techniques Stano learned from his father—continuing the family legacy at the heart of the business.

As a long-time ethical vegan, Corax ensures all products are made completely free of animal exploitation, including in his store, workshop, and at home. All of the handmade products sold in his shop by featured artists are also thoroughly vetted as 100% vegan. Starting in January 2026, Corax has pledged to donate at least 2% of the shop’s monthly gross revenue to non-profits that advocate for animals and animal liberation.

Corax returned to Seattle after traveling nationwide with his metaphysical pop‑up, appearing at events across the country. Upon his return, he joined the Pike Place Market Guest Vendor Program, spending six months as a guest vendor before securing a permanent location on the fifth floor of the Down Under. Today, Tarot Crow can be found in a cozy spot next to Ventures Market and Balcony Barber.

Tarot Crow is open daily from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., with Tuesdays available by appointment.
