About Us

Native American Silversmith, founded by Joshua Marceau (Flathead), specializes in handcrafted sterling silver jewelry that honors traditional Indigenous craftsmanship. A classically trained silversmith and accomplished biomedical research scientist, Joshua was raised on the Flathead Indian Reservation in northwest Montana. His journey brought him to Seattle in 2019 to study infectious diseases and immunology at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, while continuing to refine his artistry in silversmithing.

Joshua’s work has been showcased in galleries and museums across Montana and in Fayetteville, Arkansas, where he studied at the University of Arkansas. Since moving to Seattle, he has been deeply involved with the local Indigenous community through the Seattle Indian Health Board and the United Indians of All Tribes Foundation.

At Native American Silversmith, Joshua emphasizes quality and authenticity. He personally sources turquoise and other gemstones directly from mine owners, cutting and polishing each stone by hand before setting them in sterling silver or gold. His collection features striking minerals such as turquoise, opals, lapis, larimar, and charoite, creating distinctive pieces for both men and women.

A dedicated mentor, Joshua has taught apprentices and studio classes since 2008. Selling in person at Pike Place Market’s Handmade Craft Market allows him to connect directly with customers, sharing the history, lore, and unique characteristics of each gemstone. Through Native American Silversmith, he hopes to bring greater recognition to Indigenous craftsmanship in Seattle’s vibrant arts and economic landscape, offering a meaningful connection to Native artistry within the marketplace.
