It began in 1983, when Le Panier opened its bakery doors onto Pike Place to bring a taste of France to Seattle for all to share.
Co-owners Kristi Drake and Thierry Mougin are mindful of their French foundation. The oldest of traditional recipes, classic techniques and pure flavors are the base of all they do. They are bakers, baristas, and people who strive to make something simply delightful. It’s what brings people together.
Thierry is a French-trained baker and pastry chef from Normandie. He and his team of bakers have developed a selection of products that bring together French baking techniques and local, seasonal ingredients. Kristi and her staff in front create a warm and welcoming atmosphere, greeting regular customers with their favorites, and inviting them to try something new that the bakers have dreamed up.
Rain or shine, their doors are open to share the aromas of fresh baked goods. Come and enjoy a croissant or two with friends, family, or visitors and take in the life of Pike Place Market.
