Todd Arney went through a lot before discovering the art of woodworking. Thank goodness he did! He makes high-quality, one-of-a-kind objects out of mostly reclaimed and/or salvaged wood, both hardwood and softwood. His favorite wood to work with is the native to Washington State spalted bigleaf maple.
In 2008, Todd thought he had found his calling in terms of a life career, working five years in cabinetry. Then, as the housing market bubble was rearing its ugly head, he was laid off at the beginning of 2009. In the meantime, Todd figured he should try to teach himself how to make more stuff out of wood other than boxes. So he began making all kinds of things to spruce up his house and make custom pieces for friends. He eventually moved back to his home state of Washington and has been experimenting and making one-of-a-kind objects even more with access to high-quality PNW wood.
Todd has been at Pike Place Market since 2017 but only opened his woodworking business in November 2023.
