Leasing Process and Application

The PDA ensures that the leasing process is fair, competitive, and provides adequate time for applicants to submit their proposals. However, the PDA is not obligated to award a lease and reserves the right to accept or reject any or all applications, as well as take exceptions to leasing specifications or requirements. Submitting a response does not constitute an offer to conduct business with the PDA, and applicants acknowledge that the evaluation process may involve subjective judgments by the PDA.

Selection Process

Once an applicant submits a complete application, the Pike Place Market PDA Commercial Department will notify the applicant that it has been successfully completed and will be included in the formal selection process.

Established by a public ordinance in 1907, Pike Place Market is a nine-acre public market in downtown Seattle. It is managed and preserved by the Pike Place Market PDA, a not-for-profit chartered by the City of Seattle to oversee the Market’s buildings, infrastructure, and open spaces.

What makes Pike Place Market truly unique? It’s the only public market in the nation with low-income housing and the only historic district created by a citizen vote. Born from public outrage over the high price of onions in 1907 and later saved from demolition in 1971 by another grassroots initiative, the Market has always been shaped by the people.
