Why Your 2026 PIKE BOX Membership Matters More Than Ever

Nearly all Pike Place Market farmers were impacted by devastating floods that swept across Washington State in December 2025. The floods caused massive property damage, lost inventory, and soil degradation, resulting in tens of thousands of dollars in repairs and replacements. The PIKE BOX CSA is one of the most direct ways you can support our local farmers during this recovery period. Every membership purchased in 2026 will help farmers – the backbone of your Public Market — rebuild, stabilize and continue growing food to nourish our community.

Sponsor A Share

We believe that everyone has the right to fresh, local food. When the first Market farmers set up their tables and wagons full of produce, they helped thousands in Seattle gain access to quality, affordable fruits and vegetables. Over the years, Pike Place Market has continued to stand tall because of community-supported efforts to protect the livelihoods and businesses of our neighbors. This PIKE BOX season, we are determined to give back and continue the legacy of care with our Sponsor a Share program.

Every Sponsor A Share purchased will help us provide Produce Shares to neighbors in need. Pike Place Market pledges to match donation funds up to $12,500, so every dollar donated will be doubled and distributed directly to recipients.

Where do I pick up my PIKE BOX?

Where do I pick up my PIKE BOX?

Pick up for the Summer 1 PIKE BOX will be every Wednesday from 3pm – 7pm on the north end of Pike Place across the street from Starbucks. Click here to view the pick-up location on our interactive Market Map.

You will also receive an email with instructions on what to expect in your shares.

For Summer 2 PIKE BOX, we are offering two pick-up locations: Pike Place Market and South Lake Union. More information on additional pick-up locations will be announced.

Where is the produce coming from?

Where is the produce coming from?

The produce comes from Pike Place Market farmers. Since we have farmers from all over the state of Washington, your basil may be from Fall City, while your tomatoes may be from Sunnyside. Pike Place Market farmers have to grow everything they bring to their tables at the Market. That means if you can’t grow it in Washington, you won’t see it in your PIKE BOX.

4. What can I expect in my PIKE BOX?

What can I expect in my PIKE BOX?

We have a projection of what will be in each week’s share; however, there are many variables involved in growing and harvesting each crop, and sometimes we will not be able to include an item we had planned. Each Friday before pickup, we will email a forecast of what will be in that week’s share, but that list is subject to change. To ensure you don’t miss out on our updates, please add PIKEBOX@PikePlaceMarket.org to your email address book.

We will always try to include the following in each box: a fruit, a few staples such as carrots, onions, garlic, potatoes, a leafy green, and other vegetables or herbs. Our goal is to provide a mix of familiar, loved crops and some new and exciting varieties. You will also receive a weekly “Fresh Sheet” that showcases recipes, storage tips, and easy preparation ideas to help make the most of your fruits and vegetables.

See below for examples of produce you may see in your share, by month:

  • May: Asparagus, Bok Choy, Rhubarb, Potatoes, Spinach, Chard, Arugula
  • June: Sugar Snap Peas, Snow Peas, Cherries, Lettuce, Radish, Garlic
  • July: Broccoli, Zucchini, Apricots, Plums, Corn, Blueberries, Cucumbers
  • August: Basil, Nectarines, Peaches, Tomatoes, Sweet Peppers, Cauliflower
  • September: Grapes, Asian Pears, Summer Squash, Lemon Cucumbers
  • October: Eggplant, Beets, Apples, Pears, Yu Choy, Collard Greens

Each week’s selection of fresh produce will be packed into one or two bags with handles. To make traveling home with your produce more convenient, we recommend bringing a reusable tote bag each week when you pick up .

*To ensure top quality produce, this year, we will no longer be including soft berries in the Produce Shares, though we will still offer many other delicious peak season fruits, including cherries, peaches and more. The fragility and short shelf life of soft berries posed a significant challenge during packing and distribution. When in season, we will also have fresh seasonal berries available from Market farmers at Produce on Pike to supplement your CSA shares.

Is all of the produce organic?

Is all of the produce organic?

No. Some of our farmers are certified organic or certified naturally grown, and most of our farms grow to organic standards but are not certified, or use “no spray” techniques to manage their crops. Many small farms use regenerative and organic practices but do not pursue certification due to costs and the labor required for bookkeeping. Each week, your box will come with a “fresh sheet” explaining the growing practices of all farms included in that week’s box.

Can I substitute or change any of the items in my box?

Can I substitute or change any of the items in my box?

Members may not substitute or alter the contents of boxes. We try very hard to create shares that are versatile and appeal to people with diverse preferences. If there is a vegetable that you don’t enjoy, share it with your friend, neighbor, or fellow CSA member. We hope you’ll welcome the mix of staples and new, exciting vegetables and perhaps find a new favorite!

If you have a food allergy, please respond to our weekly newsletter, and our staff will arrange for a substitute at pickup.

I can’t pick up my box next week. What will happen to it?

I can’t pick up my box next week. What will happen to it?

If you can’t pick up your box during the designated time frame, we recommend that you ask a friend to pick it up for you or email us, and we will donate it to the Pike Market Food Bank for you. All we need at pickup is the registered member’s full name.

Shares that are unaccounted for at the end of pickup will be delivered to the Pike Market Food Bank.

Can I cancel my share or get a refund?

Can I cancel my share or get a refund?

Cancellations are not available after the enrollment deadline. Refunds are not available after payment has been submitted.

Do you offer a payment plan?

Do you offer a payment plan?

No, we are not able to offer a payment plan at this time. All shares must be paid for at the time of registration.

What is the PIKE BOX CSA Program?

The PIKE BOX CSA program is a farm-to-customer program run by the Pike Place Market Farm Team. Created in 2013 with the goals of helping local farmers grow their businesses, connecting Seattle workers and residents to local food sources, and providing fresh produce to our community.

Market staff source fresh produce, protein, dairy, flowers, and more from farmers across Washington for weekly pick-ups at Pike Place Market.

How does the PIKE BOX Program work?

  1. Sign up for a membership during the open window period.
  2. Our Farm Team works with our Washington Farmers and packs your box with their amazing produce!
  3. Pick up your PIKE BOX and any add-ons during the pickup time from Pike Place Market or our alternative pick-up locations.
  4. Enjoy all your farm-fresh goodies at home. Each Box comes with a weekly What’s Fresh sheet that includes: a list of what is in your box, recipes to help you cook yummy dishes, a section to meet the farmer, and preparation and storage information.

What is a Community Supported Agriculture program?

Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) is a mutually beneficial partnership between farmers and members that guarantees sales before the harvest season. PIKE BOX CSA members support farmers by signing up for a season’s worth of farm shares. This helps farmers, especially small family farmers, cover the upfront costs of seeds, hoophouses, and other expenses so they can keep growing delicious food! Meanwhile, members receive a weekly abundance of fresh produce and other tasty add-ons during the CSA season. It’s a win-win!

How does my PIKE BOX membership support Washington Farmers?

Our PIKE BOX CSA program supports Market farmers by taking on the labor of managing a CSA so they don’t have to! We handle the marketing, packing, and distribution logistics so farmers can focus on producing amazing food. In addition, your PIKE BOX membership helps support farmer development by opening additional sales channels, connections with new customers, and experiments with new crops and varieties. (Some of which will end up in members’ boxes and kitchens.)

“The Market CSA has helped our farm immensely. It keeps us going in our slow season so we can continue to function year-round. We have worked with the CSA since its inception and couldn’t be happier with the partnership that we have fostered over the years.”
Sidhu Farms
Pike Place Market farmer since 1999
“It has been a really meaningful contribution to our business to sell to the Pike CSA program. Having reliable, well-run sales channels that get the challenges of running a diversified farm are essential to our regional farm system. We love growing directly for folks, and appreciate the way Pike Place takes on the logistics and customer support dimensions of a CSA so we can focus on growing the best dang thing you eat this year.”
