Pike Welcomes – Rockridge Orchards & Cidery
Sat, Jun 12, 2010Wade Bennett selling on the farm’s first day at Pike Place Market
Wade & Judy Bennett started farming in the Enumclaw Plateau in 1982. They established Rockridge Farm in 1991. Currently, they have over 148 different crops and specialize in “exotic edibles” from around the world. They even grow bananas, wasabi & ginger right here in Washington State! But I think it’s safe to say they are especially known for their ciders, both hard & soft.Rockridge Farm will be selling at Pike Place Market every Saturday though September. Come down and let farm staff walk you through the varieties of ciders & fruit wines. Currently they have their Mead on the table. Mead is an alcoholic beverage made from fermented honey and though it is usually enjoyed alone, it can be nicely paired with cheese. Commonly served at weddings in Europe, Mead is traditionally served warm. Rockridge’s production of Mead is limited, and Judy thinks this current batch will be gone within a month. So come on down on Saturday and get yourself a bottle of this limited edition run.
And I haven’t even touched on their ciders & fruit wines. So stop by their booth and “Meet the Producer” for more info.
As with all their products, Rockridge does not use any preservatives in their products, or as Judy says everything we make is “100% chemical free”. We are so pleased to have them set up on our historic cobble street!
