4 Tips for a Cozy Afternoon in the Market
Posted January 6, 2016
1. Discover a Great Book
The Market is home to five independent bookstores - BLMF Literary Saloon, Lamplight Books, Left Bank Books, Lion Heart Book Store, and Chin Music Press - each with their own unique focus and vibe. Whether you’re looking for a bestseller or searching for an out-of-print title, helpful shop owners and staff are there to point you in the right direction.
2. Enjoy a Hot Beverage
Looking for a comfy spot to kick back and enjoy a mug of your favorite espresso drink? Head to Local Color, Le Panier, The Crumpet Shop or Ghost Alley Espresso for chill ambiance and great people watching. Or how about a hot toddy? Rachel’s Ginger Beer serves ‘em up with warmed blood orange RGB and whiskey. YUM.
3. Play a Brand New Board Game
Storyville Games (spearheaded by Storyville Coffee) recently introduced irk!, a new four-player strategy game consisting of marbles, dice and a beautiful oak playing board. Come give it a try at their Pike Place Market cafe (upstairs in the Corner Market building). Grab some friends, get cozy by the fireplace, and have fun!
4. Savor Some Scrumptious Soup
Check out Pear Delicatessen and Michou Deli (both on Pike Place) for delicious daily soup options. We also recommend diving into a bowl of Alaskan Razor Clam Chowder at Steelhead Diner, New England Clam Chowder at Market Grill, or Market Bisque at Pike Place Chower. Bon appetit!
